Smack Nightclub, Leamington - amazing LED's

Check out this amazing nightclub...phenomenal lighting. These LED's are sensational.

Have you seen this before? Or anywhere for that matter!

It looks great although perhaps too bright at time, but could this become much more widespread. I love it (if you couldn't already tell!)

New (smaller) Pioneer controller

According to Pioneer's Facebook page they are releasing a new controller, with no title as yet. The shot below looks very exciting and it encompasses the regular features like 4 hot cues, jog wheels and the ability to light up like a Christmas tree.

TrakPro DJ iPhone app

So another app has been launched for the DJ. A clever little app with the 'snappy' title iXimix presents TrakPro DJ....I kid, its just TrakPro DJ!

I have used touchOSC and its took me an eternity to get up and running....and for what? The opportunity to control your DJ interface from afar of course. Its very gimmicky of course because there is no way you are going to do your whole set on a iPhone, right?

Probably aimed at the bedroom DJ or the club DJ who has a serious problem with alcohol abuse (and wants to stay at the bar, which for the record would be awesome).

Have a look at the video and watch out for the Matrix soundtrack being played on the iPad.

I would much prefer iPad DAW controllers I think, the flexibility to 'chop and change' is very exciting.

Amnesia closing party promo

If you haven't made it across to 'I-beefa', 'the white isle' or Eivissa as it also known then maybe you should head on down to that ticket booking office place....thingy. Or do what most people do nowadays and go online.

It will be great fun and this promo looks fricking awesome.

Bingo Players - Rattle [Teaser]

Not content with the success of 'Cry Just a Little' the Bingo Players have launched a second assault on the buzz charts with this bass fuelled monster. I expect this will go off big time...

Very excited about this one...have a listen! Lots of bass!!

The Dave William mix - now on Nerve FM radio

Whatever you are doing, you can now tune in on 87.9FM (Bournemouth only - till Oct 2nd) and online at Nerve Media's website.

This evening sees the September mix being broadcast from 5-6pm. You can hear me every week at the same time. Very exciting stuff I am sure you will agree!

Ministry of Sound medley - not what you might think!

Haven't seen these guys ever before in my life but they have developed quite a following on YouTube. So Ministry of Sound snapped them up to perform this fun little medley. I think they are quite funny actually...thumbs up. This could just be their biggest break yet...watch out for the very creative use of a washing machine at the end too!

Paris Hilton to become a DJ?

So Paris Hilton wants to be the 'Queen of House music'. Could she be the most successful female DJ?

From what I have read it suggests that she has simply been reading a careers book or went to a gig and saw a female DJ for the first time and thought "Yeah...I wanna do that" although I could be wrong. I think the goal of simply being the most successful DJ ever isn't necessarily bad or negative (because we all want to be successful right?) considering her current status but surely its about enjoying what you do at all times and not just some giant ego trip?

Either way if shes in it for the fame she can certainly afford the marketing and PR and all that. Anyone can take up DJ'ing nowadays...if anything its a brand that's being sold most of the time. So if Paris can start a trend....or maybe even a genre that would be to her advantage. She could slow down house to about 108bpm...oh no that's already been done.

To be honest there aren't that many female DJ's I can think of other than Annie Mac, Gina Turner, Lauren Pope and Maya Jane Coles. So there is a definitely a place for a super-superstar female DJ in a largely male environment, but will it be Paris?

Xone: DB4

Brand new bit of kit from Xone...The XONE: DB4

Key feature for this bit of kit is the 'flexible input matrix', where any audio source can be selected on any or all of the channels. So different processing is applied to the same track on separate channels and you can fade between them, or a phrase sampled in the looper of one channel can be added to the mix later in the track.

Pretty impressive and I am not sure if I have heard of this before. Looks great too. Shame about the price (rrp £1750).

All in all Allen and Heath have definitely set a benchmark here, but which is better the Xone: DB4 or the DJM-2000?

Top iPhone apps for DJ's

So having switched smartphones to the iPhone I decided to route around for some apps which would help or aid any DJ.

So my 10 in no particular order are:

1. Shazam - record song and get the title...instantly!
2. Evernote - whether producer or DJ you can use this app to write down great notes
3. AA routeplanner - find out how long it takes to get to that gig instantly
4. Blogger
5. Beatport - listen to tunes on the go and/or add them to your basket
6. Sky Go - abroad or at the airport...there's always Sky Movies. Inception anyone?
7. Mixcloud - listen to your own or other mixes on the go
8. Soundcloud - listen to your own or other mixes & tracks on the go
9. Itm DJ - yet to use it but this video rocks http://goo.gl/8hL9D
10. Any other suggestions?
